Dietetics in the Division of Nutritional Sciences as Cornell University

Mission Statement-Dietetics in the Division of Nutritional Sciences as Cornell
The Cornell University Dietetic Program prepares future leaders in evidence-based practice in community, clinical and management settings and in translational research to inform that practice.

Introduction- Dietetics in the Division of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell
Dietetics at Cornell has had a long and distinguished history, and graduates of the program have gone on to leading positions in the field throughout the country. The Division of Nutritional Sciences of Cornell University has both an undergraduate Didactic Program in Dietetics and a Dietetic Internship. Both programs were granted accreditation through July 2011 from the Commission on Accreditation of Dietetics Education. The Didactic Program provides students with the coursework necessary for application to an accredited Dietetic internship or an Approved Pre-professional Practice (AP4) program. Students successfully completing didactic program requirements at Cornell are issued a Verification Statement. Upon completion of a Dietetic Internship or AP4 program, students are eligible to take the Registration Examination of the Commission on Dietetic Registration, and become a Registered Dietitian (RD).

The Didactic Program in Dietetics at Cornell strives to promote integration of knowledge and theory in nutritional sciences and development of skills necessary for excellence in dietetics practice. Students, alumni and Dietetic Internship Directors consistently rate the knowledge and skills obtained by our graduates as more than satisfactory. Our graduates are well-prepared for evidence-based practice, leadership and graduate study as evidenced by placement rates of our graduates in dietetic internships and/or graduate schools of 95% and better. Furthermore, graduates of the program are highly successful; the passing rate of our graduates taking the Registration Examination for Dietitians for the first time is 95% or higher.
