Jamison Endowed Chair - Associate or Full Professor in Global Health & Nutrition

Description:
The Division of Nutritional Sciences is seeking a distinguished scholar at the level of Associate or Full Professor in Global Health & Nutrition.  The successful candidate is expected to have interests in global public health research and the biological and/or social dimensions of nutrition.  Areas of expertise include but are not limited to Social Sciences, Epidemiology, Intervention Targeting & Evaluation and/or Infectious Disease.  The successful candidate will be tenured and expected to maintain an extramurally funded research program and teach in the Division’s graduate and undergraduate programs. This position, which is a 9-month appointment, is part of major university-wide interdisciplinary initiatives in Global Health, Social Sciences, Computational Sciences and/or Life Sciences.

The Division of Nutritional Sciences is seeking an individual who has:

  • Expertise in human nutrition/metabolism, social sciences, epidemiology, human genetics, intervention targeting & evaluation and/or infectious disease.
  • Interest in global public health research and the biological and/or social dimensions of nutrition.  Areas of interest include but are not limited to developmental programming, obesity, maternal/child nutrition, behavioral social sciences and infection/immunology.
  • Willingness and a strong interest in contributing to the development of campus-wide, interdisciplinary initiatives in Global Health, Social Sciences, Computational Sciences and/or Life Sciences at Cornell University.

Qualifications:

  • An MD, DVM, PhD or equivalent.
  • Distinguished research and teaching record.
  • Expressed interest in furthering the research, teaching & outreach mission of the Division of Nutritional Sciences.

Responsibilities:
The candidate is expected to:

  • Maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program in some aspect of Global Health & Nutrition.
  • Maintain a high level of scholarly activity.
  • Train graduate students.
  • Forge professional relationships within the Division of Nutritional Sciences and other academic units on campus.
  • Participate in the Division of Nutritional Sciences graduate and undergraduate teaching programs.

Academic Rank and Compensation:
Associate or Full Professor with a 9-month appointment and expectation of tenure immediately following appointment.  Salary level will depend on experience and expertise and will be competitive with comparable positions at other peer universities.

Assistant Professor - Functional Mouse Genomics

Description:

The Division of Nutritional Sciences is seeking an individual with expertise in mouse genetics, biochemistry, developmental biology and/or mammalian genomics.  The successful candidate will be appointed to a tenure-track position and is expected to establish an extramurally funded research program and teach in the Division’s graduate and undergraduate programs.  This position is part of a major university-wide Life Sciences initiative, which encompasses computation and bioinformatics, technology innovation and vertebrate genomics. 

The Division of Nutritional Sciences is seeking an individual who has:

  • Expertise in murine genetics, developmental biology, and/or metabolic biochemistry and basic training in functional aspects of mammalian models.
  • Interest in murine models of: nutrition and development, metabolic & developmental programming, metabolism and complex disease, maternal/placental/infant metabolism, energy metabolism, epigenetics, gene/nutrient interactions, metabolic networks and/or other nutritional/metabolic problems that require whole genome approaches.
  • Willingness and a strong interest to contribute to the development of a campus-wide, interdisciplinary mammalian Life Sciences Initiative at Cornell University.

Qualifications:

  • A doctoral degree in Genetics, Biochemistry, Nutrition, Mammalian Development or related fields.
  •  Post-doctoral training preferred.
  • Experience in gene targeting, ES cell manipulation, array analyses, metabolic biochemistry, positional cloning, and/or mouse development is preferred.

  • Initiate a vigorous, externally funded research program in aspects of mammalian genomics with metabolic/nutritional implications.

Assistant Professor -  Human Nutrition/Metabolism

Description:

The Division of Nutritional Sciences is seeking an individual with expertise in human nutrition, molecular nutrition & metabolism, and an interest in studying the interactions among nutrients, metabolism and/or genetic variation in human health and disease. Areas of interest include but are not limited to energy and/or lipid metabolism, genomics/metabolomics/lipidomics, chronic diseases and/or maternal & child nutrition.  The successful candidate will be appointed to a tenure-track position at the level of assistant professor and is expected to establish an extramurally funded research program and teach in the Division’s graduate and undergraduate programs. This position is part of a major university-wide Life Sciences initiative, which encompasses computation and bioinformatics, technology innovation and mammalian genomics.

  • Expertise and basic training in human nutrition, nutritional biochemistry or physiology and experience in performing human studies and clinical research.  Candidates who utilize animal models in combination with human research are encouraged to apply.
  • Interest in studying: problems of maternal/child nutrition, metabolism and chronic disease, energy metabolism, epigenetics, gene/nutrient interactions, metabolic networks and/or other nutritional/metabolic problems that integrate nutrition and “omic” approaches.
  • Willingness and a strong interest in contributing to the development of a campus-wide, interdisciplinary mammalian Life Sciences Initiative at Cornell University.

Qualifications:

  • A PhD, MD or equivalent in nutrition, genetics, biochemistry, physiology or related fields.
  • Post-doctoral training strongly preferred.
  • Experience in human or whole animal studies is essential; stable isotope methodology, metabolic biochemistry and/or other state-of-the-art approaches preferred.
