Variety of apples peak at different seasons of the year.
Year-round: Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Red Delicious, Crispin. Fall-spring: Jonathan, McIntosh, Stayman, Cortland, Empire, Idared, York, Winesap. Early-late fall: Macoun, Rhode Island Greening.

Selection Tips
Firm and hard to touch, with well colored skins that are tight, unbroken and unblemished (with exception of brown freckles and streaks in some varieties). Purchase from cool storage.

Best Way to Store
Keep apples cold by placing in a plastic bag and refrigerating. Remove decayed apples to prevent spoilage of whole bushel.

How to Prepare
Wash and use either peeled or unpeeled. If skin is waxed, peel before eating. Core, cut into slices and rub surfaces with lemon juice and water to prevent browning. If cooked: bake, saute, boil, or juice.
